The Rajasthan Commission for Women (RCW) on Friday launched a mobile safety app for women in distress — ‘Raj Mahila Suraksha‘.
The app was launched by RCW chairperson Suman Sharma. She said that is the aim of the commission to make women feel safe. So, the commission has launched the app for women which was announced on International Women’s Day. Further, the app has been launched in the state after ensuring its feasibility with the help of Jaipur police commissionerate. Before the launch of the app, a training of officials was also conducted. The app was developed with the help from department of information technology & communication.
Features of Safety App:
- The app, when activated, has features of sending alerts at three locations – the nearest police station, the women’s commission and one additional number of a friend or family.
- The developers have kept it in mind that in case of an emergency, a girl might not have the time to dial a number or send a message. So they have made it a ‘shake app’. The alert can be activated by merely shaking and tapping the mobile thrice.
